Develop ringers for congregational playing
To develop more ringers in the area, CMC would like to open this class to any adults or high school students who want to participate. Handbells offer an easy entry into music participation within a congregation. We want to develop more ringers from across age groups and church homes. Because the addition of adults and high school students would help our younger ringers, we would like to offer this class at cost for the space and supplies for high schoolers and adults.
What is unique about handbells? Participants make music as an ensemble (group), much like a choir. However, unlike choral singing, the melody and harmony are often divided across the participants, each person ringing 1-2 diatonic notes, along with the corresponding sharps and flats. The bells are rung, but also struck with mallets and pushed into the table pad (“mart”). Ringers get the support of others playing with them, but are independent in individual notes.
Goal of CMC Handbells: To foster musical creativity and notation reading in our community through handbells, while also developing potential ringers for area church handbell choirs.
Enroll for group ensembles here, please enroll each child separately. Please pay for all ensembles online (click on the online payment button). If you need alternate payment options, please contact CMC.
